When creating my advert I have developed many skills mostly when it comes to using Photoshop, I have learned how to change the type of brush stroke and the size of the brush stroke, I have also learned how to use the crop and the magic wand tool. I learned how to alter the brightness and contrast on my picture aswell as the saturation levels, I also learnt about the different range of shots like close up and long distance shots. I still need to develop many other skills such as learning how to use shutter speeds on a camera and how to use studio lighting to make my pictures more affective I’d also like to develop my skills more when it comes to depth of field. A weakness I have when it comes to developing an advert is that I didn’t research my target audience and socioeconomic group as much as I should have.
From the skills assessment sheet I have used text control, I changed the size of the text and also the font and the colour to fit the style and target audience my advert is trying to achieve. I also used the different type of brushes, and changed the size and density of the brush stroke. I used the brightness and contrast control. I think I used these skills relatively well however I think I could improve on them especially on the brush strokes and I would like to be able to rotate the text. My advert shows that my skills have developed as in the skills assessment sheet I had not used some of the skills I have used to design my advert. The weaknesses in my advert are probably the text, I think it should be more blended in as it is really bold which takes your attention off the actually image which should be the focus of the advert. Also I think towards the edges of the image should have been faded out so it wasn’t so sharp. If I was to do this project again I would probably make the image lighter as to make the product seem as though it would ‘brighten up your day’ rather than how dark it is this time round, I would also blend the text into the image more and probably burr the background to make the image of the product the main priority so that the audience know what the main of the advert is.
The target audience for this product before I rebranded it was around 50 plus, after I rebranded it the new target audience was 16-19 year olds. I think the font used in the advert is quite a bold and young text, it makes the product stand out more, and the slogan ‘too good to share’ suggests that it’s something you have to have. I think the dark background does not work very well, I think I should have used a brighter background to catch the target audience’s eye, also I think my dark background makes the product seem uninteresting. To improve my advert I would use a brighter background and probably a less bold font for my text.
My product is designed to meet the demands of my target audience 16-19 year olds, have tried to tailor my product to fit my target audience and make it appeal to them. I have made the text big and bold so that it stands out I have also used a younger bold font, I have chosen a black and white colour scheme which are very teenage grunge colors. To make it appeal to my audience more I should have chosen a brighter colour scheme to catch their attention I could have also added a good looking model into my advert to catch their attention more.
This work demonstrates that I understand my target audiences as I have created my advert to fit around their needs and interests so that it draws their attention towards my product and to encourage them to buy it.
